Troubleshooting

Grid abnormal

Grid frequency/voltage/phase sequence exceed the parameter range

1.    Check whether the AC circuit breaker is tripped. If it is tripped, switch on the AC circuit breaker.

2.    Check if the AC side wiring of the inverter is connected according to the specified torque. (Site must be de-energised prior to inspection).

3.    Use a multimeter to measure the inverter AC voltage, and check whether the line voltage between the three-phase inverter L1/L2/L3 is within the normal voltage range. (refer to the nameplate parameters)

4.    If the issue persists please contact Hopewind Service Centre.

Grid over frequency/under frequency

Grid frequency over/under the system set over/under frequency point

1.    Check whether the AC circuit breaker is tripped. If it is tripped, switch on the AC circuit breaker.

2.    Open the HopeCloud environment and assess whether the grid frequency at time of alarm is within the set parameters. If it is abnormal, contact the grid operator.

3.    If the issue persists , please contact Hopewind Service Centre.

Three-phase: Grid AB/BC/CA line voltage over/below the threshold

Single-phase: Grid overvoltage/under voltage

Grid line voltage above/below the system set overvoltage/under voltage point

1.    Check whether the AC circuit breaker is tripped. If it is tripped, switch on the AC circuit breaker.

2.    Ensure that the AC side wiring is grounded properly.

3.    Check whether the AC cable diameter is in accordance with the product manual.

4.    Ensure that the transformer mode is set to low voltage, if not please adjust that.

5.    If the issue persists, please contact Hopewind Service Centre.

Positive/Negative bus bar to grounding insulation fault

Positive/negative bus bar insulation impedance to ground is abnormal

1.      Ensure that each string is properly grounded, and measure the voltage of the string terminals to ground with a multimeter.

a)      When measuring, If the voltage decreases towards zero, the string is normal.

b)      If the measured voltage is larger than 10V, there might be a current leak, the string must be checked for possible damage or insufficient insulation. Measure impedance to ground for each string. If the measured values are abnormal; check the string insulation.

2.      If the issue persists, please contact Hopewind Service Centre.

Input polarity reverse

Reversed input polarity

Warning: For this fault, the group string needs to be removed for troubleshooting, to avoid arching, remove the group string terminals during the evening or morning hours when radiation levels are low.

1.      Check if the positive and negative terminals are reversed, use a multimeter to measure the voltage between the positive and negative poles of each string, the red test probe is connected to the positive terminal, and the black test probe is connected to the negative terminal. If the displayed value is negative (containing a minus – symbol), the terminals are reversed. The terminal must be inserted properly when the radiation level is low to prevent arching.

2.      Ensure the number of PV panels in the string connections connected to the same MPPT tracker is equal.

a)      If the amount varies across strings, advise the client to balance them into equal numbers.

b)      If the number of PV panel in each string is the same, check if any of the PV panels are damaged.

3.   If the issue persists, please contact Hopewind Service Centre.

Inverter synchronization overtime

Inverse the same period time exceeds the limit

1.  Please contact Hopewind Service Centre.

External fan abnormal

Fan failure or abnormal feedback signal

1.      Confirm whether all fans are working properly at the time of the alarm.

2.      Ensure that there are no foreign objects in the fan.

3.      Ensure the fan can spin freely, if the fan is jammed, replace the fan.

4.      If the issue persists, please contact Hopewind Service Centre.

Internal fan abnormal

Fan failure or abnormal feedback signal

1.      Please contact Hopewind Service Centre.

Low efficiency of inverter conversion

Abnormally low inverter conversion efficiency

1.    Ensure that the nameplate rated power of the inverter matches with the rated power of the set parameters, after confirmation contact Hopewind Service Centre.

High input voltage of PV string

DC input voltage exceeds set threshold

1.      Open the HopeCloud environment to confirm the measured string DC input voltage, ensure that no string exceeds the voltage limit value (refer to the nameplate specifications).

a)      If it exceeds the voltage limit, measure the actual DC input voltage with a multimeter for confirmation, if too high, the string needs reconfiguring to lower the string voltage

b)      If the measured voltage is within the specified range, please contact Hopewind Service Centre.

AC-side relay open circuit/short circuit

Master/slave relay open circuit/short circuit

1.      Please contact Hopewind Service Centre.

Booster-side open circuit/short circuit

boost unit open circuit/ short circuit

1.    Please contact Hopewind Service Centre.

Bus voltage imbalance

Positive and negative bus voltage imbalance exceeds the set threshold

Bus bar hardware overvoltage

Bus voltage exceeds hardware overvoltage threshold

1.         Check if the grid voltage lies within the set range. If the fault is caused by grid fluctuation, the fault is cleared automatically. • If possible, check the power frequency and observe how often fluctuations occur. If fluctuations occur frequently and this message is displayed often, contact the grid operator and request approval to change the operating parameters of the inverter.

2.      Open the HopeCloud environment to check the string DC input voltage and ensure that there is no string that exceeds the set threshold (refer to the nameplate specifications).

a)      If it exceeds the voltage limit, measure the actual DC input voltage with a multimeter for confirmation, if too high, the string needs reconfiguring to lower the string voltage

b)      If the voltage is within the set range, please contact Hopewind Service Centre.
